Art literacy is a Beaverton School District program, ran by volunteers that fosters art education in students K-12.
Volunteers teach six art lessons a year, with an emphasis on inclusivity and representation of the diverse world around us. Students learn about both artists and art styles, and then create their own art projects based on the lessons.
Art Lit is only possible with the commitment of our dedicated volunteers. Volunteers do NOT need to be artists, or have any special knowledge or skills. These important helpers are needed to present the lesson (don't worry; there are video lessons), help the children manage the art supplies, and assist with clean up.
There is no 'wrong way' to make art!
Want to know what the next artist will me? Want to attend one of the information sessions but don't know where to sign up? Have a specific Art Lit question? Join our email list!
